William "Bill" E. Niehaus age 89 of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away on August 31, 2022.  He was born on December 19, 1932 in Chicago to his parents Ewald and Maurine (nee Wiwi).  Beloved husband of the late Louise (nee Giniat) for 56 years.  Loving father of Anita (Fred) Shears, Karen Niehaus and Linda (Robert) Caruso.  Proud grandfather of Laura Shears (Peter Kleczynski), Jaclyn Shears (Matt Goetz), Nicolette Caruso (Matt Wilson), Anthony Caruso and Adam Caruso.  Siblings include his cherished brother Gerald (Joan) Niehaus as well as half siblings; Evelyn (Niehaus) Peters, Wayne Niehaus and Frances Niehaus.  Bill was a longtime Des Plaines resident and was a United States Marine Corps veteran.  Bill had a 40-year career at Central Telephone in Des Plaines. He was a member of the Frisbie Senior Center and the Wood Carving Club.  Visitation will be taking place on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 beginning at 8:30 am until 9:15 am at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.  A 9:30 am funeral mass will be taking place at St. Emily Catholic Church located at 1400 E. Central Road, Mt. Prospect, Illinois 60056.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Road in Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.
