Ursula Linda
Lenzenhuber
Jan 25, 1959 — Feb 1, 2024
Des Plaines
Ursula Linda Lenzenhuber was born January 25, 1959, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis to Karl & Hannelore (Lore) Lenzenhuber. They lived in St. Louis for less than a year before they moved to a farm house in Jonesburg. She was soon joined by a brother, Roland, July, 1960 and later by a sister, Cindy, in August 1963. In October 1963 they all moved into the "new house" that was built on the farm and she lived there until she graduated from high school in 1977. After graduating, she moved to the Chicago area to live with her aunt, Linda Kurz. She attended Triton College and received her degree in early childhood development. When Linda moved out of the area, Ursula decided to stay in the Chicago area.
Ursula loved spending time with her family. She often made the five hour trip back to Jonesburg for the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays, getting to spend time with her two nieces, Cassie and Ginny, and her three nephews, Derek, Alex, and Nick.
She'd even make trips to South Dakota, swinging through Jonesburg to pick up her Mom and made the 8+ hour trip to visit her sister's family. Ursula was great at putting together picture collages as well. In YEAR(?) she traveled to Yankton SD for the wedding of her niece, Ginny, and Nick Moser. There she took tons of great pictures, making collages for everyone to remember the wedding.
The only thing that could have competed with Ursula's love for her family was the love she had for her pets. Her Miniature American Eskimo, Shatzie, was her companion for years. Ursula raised her from a little puppy, taking her everywhere with her. Shatzie and Ursula were the perfect pair – two fiery spirits making their way in the world.
On any given day, Ursula could be found at the pool (as long as the weather was nice enough). She loved to sit poolside and crochet in the sunshine, surrounded by the beautiful weather and sounds of laughter and joy. Ursula's suntan and sense of style was a familiar site around the local poolside – complete with yarn skein draped into her bag.
Ursula's crocheting was a favorite of family gifts. Her wonderful designs ranged from Pikachu hats for her grandnephew to full pairs of sweatpants, and more. She enjoyed going to craft shows, where she could show off her designs and sell her creations.
For the past 25 years, Ursua worked for D & K Group in Elk Grove, just outside of Chicago. She was the receptionist, and she loved her work family.
Ursula loved helping people. In 2011, she was recognized by the Illinois Health Care Association as the Adult Volunteer of the year for her dedication to Long Term Care residents. She could often be found volunteering with residents, doing various crafts, painting fingernails, and just spending time with people who could use a friend. When someone was in need, Ursula would always find a way to step in and help.
She is survived by her aunt Linda Kurz, sister Cindy and husband Mitch Kannenberg, Ginny (Nick) Moser, Derek and his son Carter Kannenberg, Alex Kannenberg, Roland Lenzenhuber, Cassandra Lenzenhuber, Nick Lenzenhuber. Ursula was preceded in death by her parents, Karl & Lore Lenzenhuber.
