Tonie Anna Vasquez (nee Mendoza), age 87, a life-long resident of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away February 19, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Jose M. Torres. Loving mother of Sanjuanita (the late Juan) Godinez and Maria Antonia (Ramon) Olague. Cherished grandmother of Baltazar and Juan M. Cardona, Maricela, Lizzie, Jose Enrique, and Diego Rene Olague. Proud great-grandmother of Annabelle Guerrero, Luna Cardona, Jose Cardona, Gloria Cardona and  Ramon Cardona, Juaquin Noe Aleman, Emilie Guerrero, and Leonel Alberto Leguer-Olague, and great-great-grandmother of Gerardo, Giovanni, and Gabriella Guerrero, Sophia Cardona, and Mateo Cardona-Ortiz. Preceded in death by her mother Consuelo Sauceda, her father Ponciano Mendoza, her brother Ponciano Mendoza, Jr., and her sister Mary Helen Echavarria. She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Felipa Rodriguez, Maria L. Ramirez, Amelia Trimm, Rosario Chong and Prospero Echavarria, Jr. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Tonie was born March 7, 1935 in Brownsville, Texas. She had a heart for helping others. Many in the Hispanic community have come to her door and she always welcomed them. Tonie will be dearly missed by so many. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, 1280 Prospect Ave, Des Plaines, Illinois.
