Obituary

Timothy "Tim" R. Veit, 67, passed away on October 16, 2024 at home, after fighting cancer for over 5 1/2 years, as he would say, "f***k cancer."

Tim was born on April 12, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Donald and Lorraine (nee Talaga) Veit. He attended Western Illinois University, receiving his BA in Law Enforcement. He later became a Des Plaines police officer, serving 32 years and retiring as a Commander. While with the police department, he volunteered with many of the local youth groups and sports teams.

Tim loved sports, being a life-long White Sox fan. He was also an amateur weatherman, calling and texting family and friends and telling them what weather was coming their way.

Tim will be missed by his family and life-long friends.

He married Mary Veit (nee Baumhart) in Hawaii 12 years ago. Tim was a very proud father to Jeffrey (Vania), David (Stefanie) and Amy (Kelly), stepchildren Kristie (Patrick) Curran, Matthew Kay, and Michelle (Adam) Masterson. Papa to Danielle, Camila, Katherine, and Emerson. Pop Pop to Caden, Caroline, Jaxon, and Madison. Big Papa to Mackenzie, Jonny, Grace, and James. He was a dearly loved brother to Thomas (Marla) Veit and Terri Veit.

Tim can again walk with and throw the tennis ball with his good friend, Rafiki.
