It is with great sadness that the family of Sylvia (Ochocki) Kraus announce her passing on October 11, 2024. She was born to Helen (Kwasniewski) and John Ochocki on October 18th, 1937. Sylvia remained a daddy's girl her whole life and outlived her only sister, Beatrice Krystyn. She married her husband Ted in 1957, and their marriage endured until Ted's passing in 1989. Sylvia spent her days surrounded by loved ones including her children Ted Kraus Jr., John Kraus (Late) and Kathy (Duane) Griffith, her 4 grandchildren: Cindy (Scott) Hoffmeyer, Michelle (Nick) Felsoci, Nicole (Michael) Milton and Jeremy Kraus, and her 7 great grandchildren: Zachary, Skylar, Mason, Mackenzie, Makayla, Arabella and Sebastian.

Sylvia was an avid dog lover, spending the majority of her adult life with a four-legged companion. She loved traveling with her family, including trips overseas with her sister and domestic trips with her eldest granddaughter.

A morning in Sylvia's life was not complete without the radio playing and a piping hot cup of black coffee. She loved doing everything with her grandchildren, including going to ball games, theater productions, and even Girl Scout fashion shows. Sylvia had a green thumb with a knack for bringing potted plants back to life. She will be eternally missed. Visitation for Sylvia will be taking place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home. 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, 60016. Burial will be in St. Adalberts Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to your favorite charity or raise a glass of white Zinfandel in Sylvia's honor.
