Stella Jeanne Zemaitis Svienty (nee Pavis), age 92, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois since 1961 passed away August 17, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Alfonse Zemaitis and the late Edward Svienty. Loving mother of Michael Zemaitis, Jeanne Zemaitis, Ann (John) Wallace, Edward Zemaitis, and Mary (Michael) Utt. Proud grandmother of Roxanne, John (Shara), Eddie, Rachel (Zach), Alexandra, and Emily; and great-grandmother of Izzy and Lana. Jeanne was born July 19, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Vincent and the late Stella (nee Petkevicius) Pavis.

Stella Jeanne will be remembered by her strength and perseverance.  She was always the most optimistic person in the room.  She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage and a devout Catholic.  Widowed from Al at 42, she raised 5 young children on her own, while working full time for the city of Des Plaines Library, then the Police Department.

Years later, Jeanne found love again with Ed and spent her golden years dining, dancing, and cruising around the world.

Jeanne was able to spend most of her twilight years in her own home with her eldest son, Michael at her side as her companion and caregiver. Her constant smile and the sparkle in her blue eyes will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 9:00 am until 9:45 am at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines, Illinois. Interment in St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Stella Jeanne's name may be made to Wellness House, 131 N. County Line Rd., Hinsdale, IL  60521.
