Rupert V.
Levy Jr.
Oct 14, 1960 — Mar 29, 2022
Des Plaines
Rupert Vivian Levy Jr., 61, passed away on the 29th of March, 2022, with his devoted wife, Carole, and extended family by his side. Rupert was born on October 14th, 1960, in Kingston, Jamaica to Rupert and Gloria Levy. A child of Jamaica, Rupert grew up inspired by the vibrant sounds of Reggae music that cultivated Jamaican culture and influenced the entire globe. This would eventually inspire him into working with music and sound engineering as a passion and hobby. He shared his love of music and culture with everyone he met. Rupert was a quiet and reserved man of few words. He was the kind of person everyone would go and talk to because he was a great listener and patient which made it easy for people to confide in him. He was a devoted family man and a trusted leader. Rupert and Carole raised their three children, Melissa, Christopher, and Nicholas with compassion, love, and understanding. He was also a very devoted grandfather to his grandchildren Jevon and Talia. His heart extended beyond his wife and children. He was willing to help any family member anyway he could. He was a mentor to most people he came across and would give sound advice. For those who were fortunate enough to taste his cooking, always found an excuse to come back for more. Rupert was devoted to his faith and church and used his gift for sound to help with the church's audio production. Rupert was loved by everyone, including his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially his brothers Robert (Hyacinth) Paul (Erica), and Oral (June), and his sisters Carol, Jean, and Carmen. Through his love for his wife, he was a true brother to Carole's siblings: Rachelle (Jean-Monet), Chantal, Josiane (Patrick), Reginalde (Gilbert), Harry, Ketline (Job), Paul (Patricia) and Dominique. He will always be remembered and never forgotten. Visitation for Rupert will be taking place on Saturday, April 16, 2022 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, 60016. Interment will be taking place in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, Illinois. For information, please call the funeral home at (847) 699-9003.
