Obituary

Rose L. Schellin, age 76, of Mount Prospect, passed away at home on June 10th, 2023.

Born on April 15, 1947, Rose was the loving wife for over 46 1/2 years of the late Darryl L. Schellin. Together they owned and operated Schellin's Bakery in Des Plaines for many years.

After working at Schellin's Bakery, Rose worked at Brentwood Elementary School as a lunch mom where she was able to (put a smile on children's faces every day) be "grandma" to many children over the years before she retired.

Rose was an avid reader and always had a book nearby. Her love for reading was a passion that she passed on down to her daughters. In addition, Rose handed down to her daughters crafting, most specifically crocheting which she learned from her own mother. Rose also enjoyed giraffes, bumblebees, her rose garden, collecting Hummels, watching the Chicago Bears and spending time with family and friends.

Rose had a smile that would light up a room and an infection laugh. Rose had a generous spirit and will be remembered for her caring and loving heart.

Rose is survived by her daughters Stephanie (Joe) Hoffarth, Dr. Kimberly Schellin-Rog (James), and Jennifer Schelling, her grandson, Kurtis Karavites, her sister Judy Berschet, her best friend of over 60 years Diane (Jim) Erbstoesser, and many nieces and nephews.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband Darryl Schellin, her parents John A. and Ruth J. (Linneman) Moehling and her sisters Carol (Moehling) Hattendorf and Betty Moehling.
