Roger Babilla, affectionately known as Ozzie, born March 17 th , 1942, passed from our presence on May 26 th , 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Ruel and Hertha. He leaves behind his dearly loved sister, Vicki (William) Maher, brother Ray (Virginia) Babilla; nieces Shannon (Charles) Weisbecker, Kristi (William) Shaffer; nephew James (Teresa) Maher; and great nieces/nephews Ellie, Joseph, Katie, James, Anna, Will and Mary. He was larger than life and lived life to its fullest. He was a successful businessman who loved people and was loved in return. He was a true Chicago sports fan; but the Cubs were an all-consuming passion. He was well known for his philanthropy and fund-raising events supporting charities such as Misericordia and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Ozzie was inducted into the Chicago 16" Softball Hall of Fame on March 28, 2015. His family & legion of friends will deeply miss him, his loyalty, affection, generosity and lust for life. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines. In celebration of Ozzie, wear your favorite Tropical attire. The funeral service will be Friday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee Street, Des Plaines. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Chicago.
