Ricardo "Rica" Contreras, age 46, a resident of Westchester, Illinois for 7 years, formerly of Chicago, passed away December 22, 2022. Beloved life partner of 22 years to Birgit Sucel Gosch. Loving father of Sucel Emilia, Cecilia Miah, and an angel Savinah Martha Contreras. Dear son to Martha (nee Hernandez) and Abraham Contreras Sr., and wonderful brother to Abraham Jr., German, Erica and Gaby Contreras. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dearest friend to Diana and Eddie, who were like a brother and sister to him.

Ricardo was born Deccember 10, 1976 in Valle de Juárez, Jalisco, Mexico. He graduated from Maine West High School, Des Plaines, in 1995. He was an amazing carpenter who could build anything from the ground up, and was proud to be a member of Union 13. His work left a mark all over Chicago, including with his beloved Cubs at Wrigley Field. Art was his passion, but family was the most important to him. Rica was a loving and caring person - he would offer a hand, an ear or a drink to anyone who needed it. He was the life of any gathering and always had a smile to give. He touched so many lives in such a short period of time on this earth.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1170 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, Illinois. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois.
