Reverend Mr. James A. O'Malley "Deacon Jim" passed away on September 9, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Rita Ann (nee Kornbeck). Loving Father of Thomas P.(Marcie and the late Judy) O'Malley (Schaumburg, IL), James A. (Debbie) O'Malley Jr. (Moneta, VA), Margaret Jean (Michael) Wolski (Nampa, ID), Christine Ann (Kevin) Groves (McHenry, IL) and Erin Lynn (Eric) Johnson (Des Plaines, IL). Cherished grandfather of 14 and proud great grandfather of 24. Dear brother of Fr. Jack O'Malley OP and the late Annamae O'Malley. Deacon Jim used his degree in Chemistry for 24 years at Culligan International Company as manager of their Water Analysis Department. He became a Deacon in the Catholic Church and worked for the Archdiocese of Chicago for 40+ years as Chaplain at the Chicago O'Hare Airport Chapel located in Terminal 2. He also was a WWII Army veteran having served in Germany. Visitation will be taking place on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. Deacon Jim will lie in state on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. Interment will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
