Paul Michael Just Sr., 77, of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away on May 11, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Des Plaines, a man who took pride in his work, loved his family deeply, and had a gift for making people laugh with his signature dumb dad jokes.

Paul grew up working alongside his father at Just Construction, eventually taking over the family business. As the oldest of six children, he remained close with his siblings throughout his life.

Those who knew Paul knew his passions well. He had a deep love for classic cars, most especially the Pontiac GTO he lovingly worked on alongside his son, Paul Jr. He was a devoted Harley-Davidson man through and through. Paul never missed a chance to cheer on his daughter Julie through her basketball career, and in later years, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren and all of their activities. He was a faithful reader of the local paper and could be counted on to share every notable story with anyone who would listen.

Paul was a member of St. Stephen's Parish in Des Plaines.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Detloff-Just; his son, Paul Michael Just Jr. (Becky, née Hubick) and daughter Julie Graessle (Bud), both born to his first wife Terry Just (née Brunkhorst); his grandchildren, Ashley Nelson (Ross), Ella Just, Lucas Graessle, and Lauren Graessle; his siblings, Ellen Ritzenthaler (Ken), Norma Jean Just (Greg Lawson), Joel Just (Karen), George Just (Katy), and Mary Just (George Eldridge); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Just and Norma Just (née Lange).

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois.
