Mijo "Mike" Boras, age 82, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois since 1979 passed away March 2, 2022. Beloved husband of Ruža (nee Tolić) Boras. Loving father of Zdenka (David) O'Connell, Tony (Melissa) Boras, and Diana (fiancé Eben Saling) Boras. Proud grandfather of Emily and Matthew O'Connell, Ryan and Avery Boras. Dear brother of the late Drago, Ante, Ruža Boras, Janja Čuljak, and Ljubica Artuković. Mijo was born June 5, 1939 in Vitina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the late Stanko and the late Stana (nee Grizelj) Boras. He immigrated to the United States in 1967. Shortly thereafter he married Ruža, his wife of 51 years. Mijo worked extremely hard to support his family, beginning as an apartment building custodian and ultimately becoming a successful business owner. He will be very much missed by his family, friends, and business partners.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, 2022 starting with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Stephen the Protomartyr Church, 1280 Prospect Ave, Des Plaines, Illinois.
