Obituary

Masako Martha Kawano (nee Fujio), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2021 with her loving family in attendance.
Survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, John, as well as son, Alan (Diane), daughters Susan (Patrick) DiMario and Nancy (Mat) Littleton, and grandchildren Robert, Rachel (Ryan) McNamara, Sarah, and Mathew. Dear sister of Marietta Hidaka, Rita (Kenny) Imamoto, Richard Fujio, and Larry Fujio. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Masano and Tokutaro Fujio; sisters Sue (Byron) Fujisawa and Aya (Tom) Kaita, Amy (Shag) Okada with niece Jayne, and Dorothy; and in-laws Mits Hidaka, Nancy Fujio, nephew Rick Imamoto, and niece Carleena Fujio.
Born November 8, 1927 in Worland, Wyoming, she touched the lives of her family and friends over the years with her determination, generosity, and sincerity. She selflessly provided support and encouragement while displaying endless energy, unconditional love and honesty. Her strong work ethic was evident throughout her life, starting as a child helping on her family farm in Montana, then graduating as valedictorian from high school, moving to Chicago to start a new life in a totally unfamiliar setting to raise a family, building a home and running a household, to working for General Box, Sears, and Allstate. She managed to make holidays and birthdays so memorable for our family - we will never forget her smile and caring spirit.
