Martha Sanchez passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on January 30, 1938. Martha came to Chicago in 1953, the first one from a family of 12 siblings, Rosie, Margaret, Millie, Romonita, Keke, Mario, Sara, Anna, Delia, Mary, and Tere.

Martha leaves behind a loving husband or 55 years Richard (Rico) Sanchez; three sons and a daughter, William, Johnny, Ricky, and Linda; six grandchildren, Jason, Stephen, Justin, Samantha, Lizzy, and Christina, and seven great-grandchildren, Dominic, Ariana, Luke, Logan, Jonathan, Adam, Kelsey, Billy, and Jimmy.

Martha lived in Des Plaines, Illinois with her loving husband and enjoyed spending time with family and always enjoyed the outdoors, either walking at the park with her dog or camping at Devils Lake, Wisconsin. Martha especially LOVED interacting with people, making new friends and taking care of everyone she met. Meeting Martha for the first time was like meeting a long lost friend or a dear family member. She possessed a great strength in love and generosity, and infected everyone she encountered with her gift.

She will forever be missed and loved by all that knew her and was blessed and fortunate enough to have Martha in their lives.

Memorials may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2024 beginning at 9:00 am until 10:30 am at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines, Illinois. We will immediately proceed to Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, Niles, Illinois. Funeral care has been provided by G.L.
