It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Anita Hoover, who passed away surrounded by loving family on August 3rd, 2026, at the age of 86.
Marilyn was a devoted parent, loving family member, and cherished friend. More than anything, she valued family and friends and found great joy in spending time with the people she loved. Whether through quiet moments together, family traditions, or words of encouragement, Marilyn left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Those who knew Marilyn will remember her for her smile, sense of humor, faith, and love of knitting and needlepoint. She touched many lives with handmade gifts and often donated knitted items to charity for children and cancer patients.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Beata) Palmer and Gary (Christine) Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert & Ruth Matschke, husband Harvey Hoover, and son Mark Hoover.
Marilyn was born on October 19th, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended John C. Coonley grammar school, and Amundsen High School, graduating in 1957. She met the love of her life, Harvey B. Hoover, in 1963 on a blind date set up by her coworker at Walgreens company. They married on June 27th, 1964, and settled in Des Plaines, Illinois, where they raised two sons, Mark and Gary. Marilyn was active in Klesia and was a Boy Scouts den mother. The family enjoyed many years of summer vacations in Minocqua, Wisconsin at Lornor’s Portage, where they made many lasting friendships. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories we shared. Marilyn will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
