Marian J. Sackrison (nee Steiner), age 90, passed away on July 29th, 2026.

Devoted wife of the late Norman B. Sackrison for 53 years.

Loving mother of David (Cathy) Sackrison and Lori (Carl) Henry, grandmother of Jason (GuiXiang), Michelle (Jaron), Timothy, Ryan, and Morgan. Great grandmother of Carl and Lydia. Dear sister of the late Frederick (the late Barbara) and cherished aunt of Robert (the late Sherry), Joyce, William, Frederick (Jill), Susan, and Peter (Shirley).

Marian was born and raised in Chicago. As a young girl, she loved dolls, played piano, and attended Nebo Lutheran Church. Marian’s Christian faith, her love of family, and her music shaped her life. Marian began teaching piano in high school. She was later introduced to her future husband by her piano instructor, who purposefully arranged for Marian to play a duet with Norman at a recital. They married at Nebo in 1960 and bought a home in Des Plaines where they raised a family. As a young mother, Marian continued teaching piano. She later worked in retail and then as an accounts receivable specialist.

Marian loved to travel and was blessed to visit many places with her family. Her favorite was Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Her last walk around Bear Lake was at the age of 87. For 50 years Marian was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving in choir, bell choir, VBS, and many other ministries. She also enjoyed knitting, baking Christmas cookies, playing games, visiting with friends and neighbors, and gardening. Her family has many fond memories of holidays and celebrations hosted in her home. Most precious were the gatherings around her piano, singing Christmas carols.

Marian will be remembered as a faithful servant in Christ, a gentle, kind, and loving wife, and a dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 675 East Algonquin Rd, Des Plaines, Illinois 60018. Marian's family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Sunrise Senior Living Park Ridge and Guardian Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
