Luz Maria (Colon Pomales) Zambrano, age 85, of Guayama, Puerto Rico passed away January 3, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Hector Zambrano. Loving mother of Waldemar (Norma) and Hector Luis Zambrano. Proud grandmother "nana" of Sasha (David) Kisiel and Joshua Zambrano, and great-grandmother of Elena and Jace Kisiel.

Luz left Puerto Rico settling down in Chicago in the late 1950's and began a career working at the social security administration.  Within a few years she met her husband Hector, their love story began and their family grew with their children Wally and Hector Luis. She was a full time mother raising the boys while they were young and eventually decided to start a new career as an Avon Sales representative. She took the city of Chicago by storm as she became the number one saleswoman winning several awards for many years during the late 70's and early eighties.  She continued to excel in all that she put her mind to, always full of generosity, kindness and love.

She was our family's supporter, encourager, and cheerleader as well as insanely optimistic about any situation, challenge, or conflict that faced our family. As described by her grandchildren, Luz was their favorite person in the world as well as the sweetest, most loving, beautiful, colorful, fashionable, elegant, sassy, generous, funny and the list goes on and on.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm with a 12:00 pm service in her honor at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois.
