Lothar H. Bethscheider, age 95, of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away October 20, 2021. Beloved husband of 68 years to the late Lorraine Bethscheider. Loving father of Larry (Ruth) Bethscheider. Proud grandfather of Larry (Mayra) and Tom (Cynthia) Bethscheider, and great-grandfather to Andrew. Dear brother-in-law and friend of George (the late Helen) Reichl Sr. and Jack (the late Cecilia) Dobson. Fond uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Lothar was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He fought in the Pacific Theater as a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. He was a member of the Morton Grove American Legion Post 134 for 72 years. He was a Patrolman with the Chicago Insurance Patrol from 1954 to 1959, when they disbanded. Then from 1960 to 1985 he was a firefighter with the Skokie Fire Department. Visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave, Des Plaines, Illinois.
