LeRoy A. Eilken, age 91, a life-long resident of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away September 6, 2021. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Shirley A.L. Eilken (nee Beto). Dear father to Gerry L. Hansen (Diane Kennison) – Blaine, WA; Linda Vehrs (LaMontagne) deceased; Kevin C. Vehrs (Debbra Hall) Saint James, MO; Randy L. Vehrs (Kim Barth) – Marengo, IL; Scott L. Eilken (Kathy Winiecki) Mount Prospect, IL; Barbara A. Eilken O'Toole (Chris O'Toole) – Des Plaines, IL. Loving grandfather to 13 wonderful grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Fond brother of the late Ronald (Marian) Eilken. LeRoy was born April 7, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to the late William and the late Lucille (nee Freitag) Eilken. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While in Des Plaines, LeRoy was involved with the Self-Help Closet & Pantry as well as a member of the Elks and Moose lodges. Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Interment in Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials in LeRoy's name to the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/, 225 N.
