Krikor Armand Mirijanian, 92, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. Krikor was born on January 5, 1932, in Istanbul, Turkey to parents Matyus and Sirpuhi Miricanyan. He was the older brother of Anahit Hanci.
Krikor grew up in Istanbul with his parents and younger sister. He completed his early education at Esayan Armenian School and graduated from Getronagan Armenian High School. He served as an officer in the Turkish Airforce. He was an Arch Deacon at St. James Armenian Church and served on the board of trustees for the Armenian Hospital in Istanbul as well as many other Armenian Churches and organizations, both in Istanbul and Chicago.
Krikor married his wife of 65 years, Nadia in 1957. He was a hardworking man who devoted his life to his family, his culture and his community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, adoring great-grandfather and a friend and mentor to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, serving his church, traveling the world and leading and participating in activities to benefit the Armenian community in addition to supporting many other charitable organizations across the world.
Krikor was preceded in death by his wife Nadia. He is survived by his children Masis (Nelly) Mirijanian, daughter Sibil (Shahan) Alexanian, grandchildren Tania (Arden) Kurtjian, Shant (Sasha) Alexanian, and Chloe Mirijanian; great-grandchildren Alek Kurtjian and Ari Alexanian.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, at St. James Armenian Church, 816 Clark St., Evanston, Illinois from 10:00 AM, until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, Illinois, and luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. James Armenian Church.
