Josephine Noto, 93, of Des Plaines, IL passed away on December 15, 2020. She was born at Grant Hospital of Chicago on December 31, 1926 to Sam Muchia and Catherine Caeti. Her parents were both immigrants from Sicily; her mother was born in Tunis, Tunisia but hailed from Ciminna, and her father was from Altavilla Milicia. Josephine had three siblings: Sam Frank, Frank Paul "Ank," and Margaret Dixon (nee Granito). On August 5, 1945, Josephine married John E. Noto, a WWII veteran. They had three children, John (Basilia), Terese (Mike), and Cathy (Carl). A resident of Des Plaines for over 60 years, Josephine was an avid reader, cancer survivor, diligent mail correspondent, and excellent cook. She made a mean pineapple upside-down cake and had a legendary sweet tooth. She is survived by her sister; her three children; her grandchildren Steven (Teri), Charray, Danny (Chris), Laura (Brian), Jon (Jaci); and her great-grandchildren Stormie, Jimmie, Jude, Gwenna, Greyson, Asher, and Eliza Ruth; and three great-grandcats, Bufird, Nico, and Puyo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. A celebration of life will be held in the new year. For information please call the funeral home at (847) 699-9003
