JOHN BUDAY AND PAULA BUDAY
John and Paula Buday, Des Plaines residents married 51 years, found themselves quickly reunited in death, passing three days apart from each other (December 20, 2018 and December 23, 2018 respectively) at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
John "Jonny B" Buday Jr. was born on September 3, 1936 in Chicago to John and Mary Buday. John was a survivor of polio at eight years of age, after being quarantined from his family for over a year. After serving in the US Navy, he then set off on a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer. John was an inventor and holder of many patents. He loved muskie fishing with his brother Jim and played on many champion softball teams. He knew every word to every song in West Side Story. A loyal husband, wonderful father and Opa, John enjoyed his time with family and friends. John and Paula were truly blessed to have a large circle of friends that have been together for over 50 years.
Paula Linda Martens was born on September 15, 1940 in Chicago to Paul and Francis Martens. Paula was extremely bright and earned her nursing degree, enjoying a 30 year career in all aspects of health care, working at many local hospitals. She was an incredible daughter to her parents. A devoted wife and mother, Paula was the best listener around, which she considered to be a lost art. She loved really great hamburgers. Paula had a bawdy sense of humor, was a self- proclaimed "chatterbox", expert advice-giver, and cherished supportive friend to so many.
John and Paula are survived by their children, Beth (Eric) Jacobsthal and Rick (Alice) and beloved grandchildren Jack, Eva, Elle, Avery, and Brooklyn.
