Jack B. Klaus  of Des Plaines died at his home on December 29, 2023 after a short illness. Jack is survived by Mary Diane, nee Heffernan, his wife of 63 years and his four daughters Kate Klaus (the late Dave Miller), Ann Feldkamp (John), Meg McKenna (Dan) and Amy Palmeri (Dave) and was preceded in death by his son John. Jack is also survived by his grandchildren Katy Rank (Cody), Janie O'Neill (DJ), Erin O'Neill (Matt), Robert Feldkamp, Grace Feldkamp, Greta Klaus, Louie Klaus, Olivia Feldkamp, Joe McKenna, Matthew McKenna, Molly Palmeri and Ryan Palmeri, and his great-grandson Nolan O'Neill. Jack is also survived by his beloved sister Mary Sheridan, beloved brother Charles and his sisters-in-law Joan Klaus and Pat Klaus, was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Klaus, his sister Virginia Riordan, his brother Robert, his brothers-in-law Jim Heffernan, Don Riordan and Jim Sheridan and his sister-in-law Barbara Heffernan. He was a loving uncle and friend to many. Jack was born and raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago and served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He obtained a Bachelors of Philosophy and a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Loyola University. He served as the Director of Urban Renewal for both the Lincoln Park neighborhood and the City of Iowa City. He served for many years on the Cook County Economic Development Board and ended his long career in public service as the Economic Development Director for the City of Des Plaines. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Parish. Visitation will take place at G. L. Hills  Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, 60016 on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Jack's funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson Street, Des Plaines, Illinois.
