Joel Raymond Schohn, 86, of Des Plaines passed away on October 6, 2026. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond and Rowena (Doyle) Schohn. Joel was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Jamrock); loving father of Dann (Tracy) Schohn and Jeff (Kathy) Schohn; cherished grandfather of Collin (Claire), Ryan (Emma), and Dylan (McKenna); fond brother of Joan (the late Frank) Kimberg, Jill (the late George) Aigner, and Rae (the late Robert) Magee. 

Joel proudly served in the U.S. Army and was an aircraft mechanic for 40 years. He was a member of St. Zachary’s Parish since 1973 and was a member of EAA (Experiment Aircraft Association), Meals on Wheels, ReNew Group, and St. Vincent DePaul. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and visiting Door County.

A memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, October 15 at 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the G.L. Hills Funeral Home 745 Graceland Avenue in Des Plaines. A memorial Mass will take place on Friday, October 16 at 11:30am at St. Zachary Catholic Church 567 W. Algonquin Road in Des Plaines.
