James Denz, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the Des Plaines community, passed away April 13, 2026 after a life defined by service, kindness, and love.

James was a Korean War combat veteran who rose to the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army, serving his country with honor and bravery.

James proudly served as a Lieutenant with the Des Plaines Fire Department for many years, dedicating his career to protecting others with courage and compassion. He was deeply respected by his colleagues and admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Beyond his service, James was a family man at heart. He shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marlene, building a life filled with love, partnership, and cherished memories. He was a proud and loving father to his beautiful daughters and a devoted grandfather who found great joy in his grandchildren.

James had a passion for life's simple pleasures. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team. He loved staying active and embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. Known for his kind spirit, James treated everyone he met with warmth and respect, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives.

He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his dedication to family and community, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, in the Main Chapel of the indoor mausoleum.
