James B.
Blue
Oct 12, 1941 — Jun 9, 2024
South Barrington
James Bronson Blue, age 82, of South Barrington, formerly of Des Plaines for almost 50 years, passed away June 9, 2024. Beloved husband of June (nee Wedig). Loving father of Allen (Kira) and Keith (Melissa), grandfather ("Papa") of Alexander and Brittany (Patrick Thompson) Blue. Dear brother of Douglas (Pam) Blue and uncle of David and Steven Blue. James was born October 12, 1941 in Marshalltown, Iowa to the late J. Gilbert and the late Alice (nee Van Law) Blue.
James lived his life to the fullest and was involved in many ventures. He was a pilot for United Airlines for 38 years, recruited while in college. When he wasn't flying, James was devoted to his faith and community. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church of Des Plaines, where he took part in many of their committees, holding leadership positions in nearly all of them at various times. He was involved in Kiwanis and was a founding member of the School District 207 Foundation Board. He enjoyed music and served on the Board of the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, giving them much support over the years. He served with the United Way of Suburban Chicago and Meals on Wheels. On two occasions, James acted as Campaign Manager for two different Des Plaines mayoral candidates. Lastly, he was very involved with the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary Board of Trustees. In all his busyness, though, James was able to find rest and relaxation at his lake house on Diamond Lake in Michigan. He devoted his life to his family as well as many others and he will be missed greatly.
