Helga Krieger (nee Fliess), age 73, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois for 52 years passed away July 3, 2024. Beloved wife of 54 years to Harold Krieger. Loving mother of Tania (Collin) McKahin, Adam (Sarah) Krieger, Caroline (Greg) Maimone. Proud grandmother of Brooke (Nik) Aston, Alyssa (Colton) Wells, Kelsey McKahin, Castle, and Ranger. Dear sister of Dagmar Gundler, Norbert (Janet) Fliess and Linda (Bob) Stoeckicht. Close lifetime family friend Margot Powers.

Helga enjoyed being active in her church, gardening, and fun with family and friends.  She spent her time during retirement traveling the world with Harold.  She also enjoyed sewing, particularly Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Helga was an accomplished cook as well, most notably her cheesecake with the secret family recipe.

Helga started her working career with Allstate Insurance, and then in 1982 moved to Federal Express until her retirement in 2010.  When she joined Federal Express she started in customer service working her way up to Senior Hub Administrator for the Midwest Region based at O'Hare.

Helga passed peacefully surrounded by family at home.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
