Gloria A. Nelson

Gloria Ann Nelson (nee Granito), age 92, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois since 1953, passed away August 17, 2026. Born in Chicago February 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (nee Laurie) Granito. Gloria found joy in traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Beloved wife of 62 years to Robert Nelson. Loving mother of Michael (Mary), Marc, and Sandy (Steve). Proud grandmother of Robert, Samuel, Nicholas, Matthew, and Emma. Dear sister of the late Veronica.

A visitation will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 28, 2026 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 am followed by Mass at 11:00 am at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, 1280 Prospect Ave., Des Plaines, Illinois.
