Gloria M. Hourany, age 98, of Elmwood Park, Illinois, formerly of Chicago and Flint, Michigan, passed away February 1, 2025. She was born July 19, 1926 in Norwalk, Connecticut. Gloria's life was defined by caring for others. Her career was in bookkeeping, but after retirement she gave her time tutoring disadvantaged kids in Flint, a service for which she won an award. She also worked in the payroll department for AARP. Most importantly, she had the chance to care for her mother after her father's passing. Gloria's parents came to America as immigrants from Lebanon and had a difficult time learning the language. Gloria assisted her mother with all of her needs and was a companion and caregiver until the end of her life. She also gladly raised her brother's three children from his first marriage without any financial assistance. She was truly an amazing woman who thought of everyone else before herself. In her free time, she loved to have fun and go dancing and was very proficient in the jitterbug. Gloria will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Gloria is survived by her niece, Linda Parker, Janet Bentley, Mark Hourany, Robert Hourany, Marian Hourany Brown and great nephew and nieces Steven Parker, Rachel Parker Farrell, and Katherine Parker and other great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Mady and Lena (Hattem) Hourany, and her brother Louis Hourany, her niece Susan Hourany , nephew Louis Hourany Jr.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at St. Domitilla Church, 4940 Washington St., Hillside, Illinois.
