Obituary

Geraldine Barbara Krumwiede (nee Schmidt) of Park Ridge, Illinois, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday May 3rd, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was born on April 23rd, 1931 to Elmer and Esther Schmidt of Deerfield, IL. Gerry is survived by her three children, Cathy (Skip) Robertson of Arlington Heights, IL, David (Angela) Krumwiede of Seabrook Island, SC, and James (Judi) Krumwiede of Barrington, IL; her grandchildren Megan (Troy) Ripley, Matt (Alycia) Robertson, Laura (Emerson) Scott, Kelly Krumwiede, Brad (Maddie) Krumwiede, Kyle (Tara) Krumwiede, Jennifer (Steve) Krach, Lindsay (Mike) Gomez and her great-grandchildren Graycen Ripley, Rhys Ripley, Ainsley Scott, Bryce Robertson, Kinsley Robertson, Peyton Krach, and Zeland Krumwiede. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Krumwiede, and her older brother and sister-in-law Robert and Joan Schmidt of Peoria, IL and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Carol Morse of Ft. Myers, FL. She will be remembered fondly by her niece and nephews.

Gerry's life was centered around her family, the family business, C-Line Products, and her life in Park Ridge. She lived most of her life in Park Ridge. She attended Maine East High School and Ripon College in Wisconsin. She married Robert Krumwiede in 1954 and soon started a family. Gerry was an active member of Park Ridge United Methodist Church and made sure all of her children had a strong Christian upbringing. Gerry was very active in 20th Century Club, Park Ridge Junior Women's Club and a benefactor for the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra.

Gerry enjoyed playing golf at Park Ridge Country Club, bridge, family vacations, gardening and reading. She treasured her friendships with high school and long-time friends. She loved to decorate for and celebrate holidays and birthdays. When her husband became ill early in their marriage, she devoted her life to his care.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 10th, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 1903 E. Euclid, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Interment will be held privately.
