Obituary

Frederick Lyman Caswell, born on August 5th, 1936, in Evansville, Indiana, bid farewell to this world on March 5, 2024. He was the beloved son of Rex Caswell and Coda Cron. In his journey through life, he shared cherished moments with his siblings: Dorothy Sue Kuykendall (deceased), Don Caswell (deceased), and Phyllis Caswell (deceased).

Frederick's legacy continues through his children: Tammie S. Caswell, Dwight D. Caswell, and Millissa A. Nixon (married to Richard Nixon). His grandchildren, Jessica Graves, Christine Graves, Natalie Caswell, and Dylan Caswell, are testaments to the love and wisdom he imparted.

Raised in Boonville, Indiana, Frederick was a proud graduate of Boonville High School, where he distinguished himself on the football team and served as a dedicated basketball trainer/manager. His adventurous spirit led him to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1955, marking the beginning of an illustrious career.

Stationed in Japan in 1957, Frederick's path crossed with Masako Horie, whom he married in 1959. Their union was the cornerstone of his life, and he often expressed that meeting Masako was the best thing that ever happened to him. Together, they settled in Des Plaines in June of 1970.

Throughout his Air Force career, Frederick found fulfillment as a hydraulic mechanic and crew chief, serving his country with honor. From his deployment in Vietnam in 1968-69 to his tenure with the 928th Tactical Airlift Group in Chicago's O'Hare Air Reserve Station, Frederick's dedication knew no bounds. His work afforded him the opportunity to traverse the globe, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for exploration.

Beyond his professional achievements, Frederick was an avid angler who found solace in the tranquility of fishing. His infectious zest for life was matched only by his remarkable sense of humor, which endeared him to all who had the privilege of meeting him. He was a pillar of strength for his family, a loving husband to Masako, and an exceptional father and grandfather.
