Evelyn V. Carver (née Eggert), 91, of Des Plaines, formerly Huntley, died peacefully on August 28, 2026, surrounded by love.

Evelyn was born on August 6, 1935 in Chicago to George and Juliette (nee Gignac) Eggert. On April 26, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas B. Carver. She held various administrative roles throughout her career. Evelyn loved to spend time outside, tend to her garden, and enjoyed crafting. She enjoyed summers at the family lake house in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Steven) Wenk, by her grandchildren, Jessica (Javier) Salgado, William (Jamie) Wenk, Kristina (Austin Swanson) Wenk, great grandchildren Miles, Bennett, Taylor, and Rowan, and by many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, and her brothers, George, John, and Bill.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave, Des Plaines, Illinois.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 9711 W Devon Ave, Rosemont, Illinois. Interment to follow for both Evelyn and Thomas at 1:00 pm at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery, Vattman Road, Lake Bluff, Illinois. You will turn onto Vattman Road from Sheridan Road. Follow Vattman Road straight until you see the cemetery (0.3 miles). For GPS navigation, enter the full name "Fort Sheridan National Cemetery" to ensure you arrive at the correct location. Please arrive at the cemetery no later than 12:45 pm to line up your cars prior to the service.
