Eva Mary
Nelson
May 3, 1932 — Sep 9, 2024
Lake Bluff
Eva (Bronner) Nelson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday September 9, 2024 at the age of 92.
Eva was born on a farm near Harmony, Minnesota on May 3,1932 to George and Marge Bronner. As a young girl, her family moved to Austin, Minnesota where Eva went to high school. Eva was active in the band playing saxophone and worked at her father's pool hall. After graduating from high school, Eva moved to Chicago and received her certificate as an X-ray technician in 1954 from Ravenswood Hospital. Eva was very passionate about her career and worked at various hospitals and clinics. She adapted to the many changes in medicine, finally retiring in 2022.
Eva married her late husband Robert Nelson (Bob) in 1953 and together they had two children, Barb and Dan. Eva loved to play and watch golf. She was a member of the Chevy Chase women's golf league for many years. She also created "the Chicago Seven" group which played annually at the Robert Trent Jones Golf tournaments in Alabama that were orchestrated by Eva's loving brother, David.
Eva also liked to travel and visited much of the world with her husband Bob, and later with her sister Jane. She was always packed and ready to go. Eva was also passionate about gardening and flowers, a passion she continued to enjoy even when she moved to The Sheridan at Green Oaks in Lake Bluff, IL. Flowers were always present in her apartment.
Eva was an outstanding grandmother to her six grandchildren and would attend ball games and activities on a regular basis. Her two great-grandchildren were a blessing that she loved to talk about with others. She loved sports and was an avid White Sox and Bears fan.
Eva will be most remembered for her positive outlook and outgoing personality. She has touched many lives and will live on in our memory.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Joseph) Karacic, her son Daniel (Patti Regan) Nelson; her grandchildren Steven (Sarah Craft) Karacic, Christopher (Paula) Karacic, Michael (Grace) Karacic, Molly Nelson, Megan Nelson and Sean Nelson; her great grandchildren Christian Karacic and Charlotte Karacic; her brother David Bronner (Mary Lynn) and her sister Jane Davenport.
