Obituary

Donald Gregory Moore, age 90, died peacefully at home June 4, 2020, one day before his 91 st birthday. His family was at his side. Don was born in Chicago and attended Lane Tech High School. His first job after high school was as a Firefighter in Kootenay National Park in Montana. Following his time in Montana, Don enlisted in the Army, serving proudly in Korea where he was a 2-time Bronze Star Recipient. Upon honorable discharge from the military, Don was employed by Motorola in Franklin Park, IL where he met his wife, Joyce. In 1961 he began working for Middle States Telephone Company, now known as Sprint. He worked there 35 years. Along the way he worked his way up to General Product Manager of Business Services. He was employed there until his retirement. Don enjoyed woodworking and creating incredible projects for his 4 beloved grandchildren. He also excelled at skeet and trap shooting, earning numerous sharpshooter honors along the way. Don lived by and exemplified the "Golden Rule." He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce, Daughter Patricia Dolinky, Son James Moore (wife Nanette), Grandchildren Amy and Andrew Dolinky and Griffin and Kayin Moore. Don was preceded in death by his Mother Kathryn Moore, Sister Dorothy Foss, and Grandsons Jacob Donald Moore and Graham Matthew Moore. Private services will be held at G. L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines, IL; with a private graveside service following at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville, IL.
