Dallas Allegra Monreal-Berner, age 39, of Des Plaines, formerly of Evanston and Niles, Illinois, passed away on May 27, 2026. She was born on April 26, 1987, in Chicago, Illinois.
Dallas was the beloved daughter of Paul Berner and Yvonne Monreal-Berner; loving sister of Aurora (Joe) Scarpaci, John Paul (Naomi) Monreal-Berner, Vaughn Monreal-Berner, and Colette Monreal-Berner; and a proud and devoted aunt.
Dallas lived with passion, conviction, and curiosity. An All-American athlete and national champion, she approached life with the same determination and competitive spirit that distinguished her in sports. She was a creative writer and gifted storyteller whose imagination, insight, and sense of humor brought people together and inspired those around her.
A lifelong student, Dallas was endlessly curious about the world and the people in it. She was an astute gardener who found joy in nurturing growth, whether in her garden, her relationships, or the communities she touched. She possessed a generous smile, a poetic wit, and a thoughtful perspective on society that made conversations with her both memorable and meaningful. Dallas was abundant with thoughtfulness and generosity and never showed up empty-handed.
Dallas was a caretaker by nature, offering comfort, support, and encouragement to family, friends, and strangers alike. She was a devoted friend to all living creatures and had a deep appreciation for the natural world. Her opinions were strong and her words could be sharp, but they always came from a place of honesty, conviction, and love. She would genuinely take interest in others, helping them to feel heard and understood.
Those who knew Dallas will remember her for her fierce loyalty, her intellect, her compassion, and her ability to see beauty and possibility where others might not. Her presence filled rooms, sparked conversations, and left lasting impressions on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Dallas’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched. She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
