Charles Robert Thiry (Charlie, Chuck, Chuckie), 60 of DesPlaines IL, passed away on January 4, 2021 in his home. Charles was born in Evanston, IL to Arthur and Lois (Mertes) Thiry on July 26, 1960. He attended Niles East High School and Oakton and Harper College where he played football. He worked as a warehouse foreman for Osco for over 25 years. Charles is survived by his Brothers Michael (Terry) Thiry and Timothy (Jill) Thiry. His sisters Nancy (late Lee) Larson, Donna (Dale) Brown, Kathy (Bo) Howard and Patricia (late Dave) Thiry- Decker and numerous loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Lois (Mertes) Thiry, and his brother Edward (late Mary) Thiry.
Charles was a fun loving, caring person who loved his family and friends and the history of both very much. Friends and family could always count on him to bring old family/friend pictures, videos, stories and memorabilia to life again. He absolutely loved football especially college. He had a quirky, goofy and silly sense of humor and he loved to laugh. He liked to call himself a grumpy old man but we all knew it was just words. He was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend with a big heart. He is a huge loss to our family and he will be missed so very much by so many. All services will be private. He will be laid to rest in Georgia near his family.
