Barbara Ann Eilken O'Toole, 61, Loving mother of 4 and adoring wife to Christopher O'Toole, moved on peacefully to the next phase of her life, on August 20, 2023 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Barb was born and raised in Des Plaines by the late Leroy & Shirley Eilken. She grew up surrounded by a large family, her siblings: Gerry, Randy, Linda, Kevin & Scott. She was taught by her parents that, "Family is the most important thing in life". Anyone who knew her, it was obvious that her family meant everything to her. She met her husband Christopher and over their 35 years of marriage they raised and instilled that belief into their 4 loving children & their spouses: Ericka (Josh), Kyle (Meghan), Brianna (Brian) & the youngest Brooke. She was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Dakota, Tyler, Dane & Kinsley. She had a number of professions through the years, but her favorite was that of mother, grandmother & friend. She always put others before herself and was constantly the shoulder to cry on, the voice of reason and the glimmer of hope. She always saw the good in life and tried to spread her love to all her friends and family, of which there are far too many to list. A memorial visitation will held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm at the G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois.
