Amado G. Gad age 82 of Arlington Heights, Illinois passed away on April 29, 2020. Beloved husband of Freida (nee Nettleman). Loving father of Johnathon, Anthony (Jennifer), Matthew (Katherine) and Ruth (late Lito) Bajas. Proud grandfather of 8 and cherished great grandfather of 4. Amado Gad enjoyed his friends, family and hobbies throughout his 82 years.  He was an automotive arts instructor for three years at Leyte Institute of Technology. He married Freida in December, 1967, and they moved to the U.S. in 1968.  His first job in the U.S. was as the service manager at Imperial Motors in Wilmette, Illinois, where he skillfully handled the mechanics and the wealthy customers who purchased Jaguars.  In 1969, he enrolled in the masters degree program for industrial arts at the University of Illinois in Urbana.  He appreciated the information he gleaned from his courses there, but when he returned to the Chicago area and was hired as a teacher at Wheeling High School, he soon learned that a classroom full of high school boys did not always fit the model he had been taught.  Fortunately, his experience as adjutant in the Philippine ROTC served him well.  He kept a tight hold on the students' behaviors while imparting knowledge they could use. His hobbies included golf, where he was a member of the Phil-Am Golf Club and the Senior Golf Club of Illinois. A fan of bowling and a member of a High School Dist. 214 bowing team, he was an easy choice to coach the Wheeling High School girls bowling team An avid gardener, he kept fruits and vegetables blooming every summer. We will miss his easy smile and laughter but are thankful for his love.
